Parts for the chemical industry
Plastics offer high resistance to the effects of chemicals. However, finding the right material for a specific application is not always that easy.
Whether acids, alkalis, solvents, ketones or water; plastics offer many advantages over metals in the area of chemical and corrosion resistance. In most cases, additional protective measures such as surface treatment or painting are not necessary. At room temperature, the permissible pH ranges are between 0.5 and 13.5.
PE, PVDF, PTFE, PPS and PEEK are just a few examples of materials that can be used for chemical applications. Especially in the areas of valve and sealing technology, these materials are becoming increasingly important.
The most important criteria for testing chemical compatibility are temperature, chemical concentration, exposure time and mechanical stress.
