Waterjet cut parts
Introduction
In water jet cutting, plastic or polyurethane sheets are cut by a high-pressure water jet. The jet reaches a pressure of up to 6000 bar. Despite the high pressure, the plastic hardly heats up and neither deformations nor microcracks occur in the cut area. Complex 2D geometries can be cut cost-effectively with a water jet of 0.3 mm diameter.
Applicable plastics
- Thermoplastics with or without reinforcing materials
- Thermosets including composites
- Hard and soft polyurethanes
Tolerances
- Mould tolerance: +/- 0.1 mm
- Position precision: +/- 0.1 mm
- Surface roughness: up to N8/N9
- Cutting angle error: 0 to 2°
Maximum thickness for thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers: approx. 150 mm
